Shamira Wilson is an interdisciplinary visual artist, farm apprentice, and founder of studio Wilson Art Lab, based in Indianapolis, IN. She creates art inspired by the geometry of plants. Plants speak in signs and symbols which she translates with paint. She is passionate about ethnobotany, soil health, and okra. Shamira holds a BA in Psychology from Johns Hopkins University and has studied Furniture Design and Woodworking at the Herron School of Art and Design. Her current exhibitions include the Newfieds Museum and the Children's Museum of Indianapolis. She has exhibited nationally and internationally at the Haystack Mountain School of the Arts residency in Deer Isle, ME, and the Art for Change residency in New Delhi, India. She is a member of Impact 100 and The Eighteen Artist Collective.
