DeMar Walker (he/they) is a multidisciplinary artist and educator from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He has directed, choreographed, & performed for numerous local and international performing arts organizations including Ko-Thi Dance Company, Danceworks Milwaukee, Black Arts Milwaukee, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Wildspace Dance Company, First Stage Children's Theatre, Fleeing Artists Theatre, Camp Bagatae, & Ecole Des Sables. He is also a photography and poetry contributor to the following publications: Milwaukee Artist Resource Network’s (MARN) “Practice in Progress” and “Black in the Middle: An Anthology of the Black Midwest”. In Fall 2020, they directed their first dance short film “The Beckoning” which received several accolades including Best Film and Best Director at the VOICES HEARD segment at the 2021 Milwaukee International Short Film Festival. DeMar is also a recent graduate of Marquette University where he obtained his Master’s Degree in English with an emphasis on Black arts history in the Midwestern United States.
