Asa (AY-suh) Featherstone, IV is a photo-based artist and curator based in Cincinnati, OH. His work explores the beauty and complexity of marginalized communities, using photography and storytelling to center narratives with empathy and care. Asa is the founder of MIDTONES Photo Magazine, an annual publication that highlights photographers of color across the Midwest and Rust Belt. Rooted in his homeschool upbringing, his practice is guided by observation, curiosity, and a deep engagement with the nuances of daily life. 

His curatorial focus bridges documentary and conceptual photography, creating space for underrepresented voices to connect through shared experience. Asa’s work has been commissioned by The New York Times, TIME, The Wall Street Journal, Google, and American Airlines. He was an Animating Museums Fellow at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver in 2017 and was recognized by TIME in 2020 for one of the Top 100 Portraits of the Year.
