Abigail Suleman, MPH (she/her) is a daughter of Nigerian immigrants, a social entrepreneur, a multimedia artist, and a birthworker from Rockford, Illinois. Her work centers sexual, reproductive, and environmental health equity for underserved populations. She coordinates the perinatal project Melanated Group Midwifery Care at the University of Illinois Chicago. Through her nonprofit, Blood Buds, founded in 2020, she has increased access to reusable menstrual products and education for over 1,000 people in Chicago and beyond. She published her first peer-reviewed publication in 2024 titled "A pilot survey of students' menstrual attitudes, experiences, and needs on an urban university campus." Abby is developing a period advocacy network through her Youth in Gender Justice fellowship at Elevatus Studios and exploring the feasibility of sustainable menstruation on campus. She finds joy in spending time with her 8 auntie babies, going on walks, learning new languages, and drinking ceremonial tea.
